Installing components on a Meridian Enterprise application server

Some components of the Publisher must be installed on the Meridian Enterprise application server if the  BlueCielo Meridian Enterprise system link will be used.

Note    The Publisher components may be installed on the server either as in the following task or by the BlueCieloPublisher extension option in the Meridian Enterprise setup programs. Use only one method consistently. Do not mix methods. We recommend the following task because the Publisher setup programs always contain the latest version of the components and it makes it easier to install hotfixes. If automatically downloading the extension on demand by client computers (ActiveX component downloads) is not permitted by your security policy, the components may be installed manually with the BlueCieloPublisher extension option in the Meridian Enterprise setup programs.

Before you begin

Install the PowerUser extension component as described in Installing components on the Publisher computer.

To install components on the Meridian Enterprise application server:

  1. Copy the following files from the Publisher computer to the Meridian Enterprise application server:
C:\Program Files\BlueCielo Publisher\BlueCieloECM.Publisher.UI.cab
C:\Program Files\BlueCielo Publisher\BlueCieloECM.Publisher.UI.htm
  1. Register the PublishDocumentUIExtension extension found in BlueCieloECM.Publisher.UI.cab as described in the BlueCielo Meridian Enterprise Configuration Guide. The extension applies itself to every document type in the vault.

  1. Continue by configuring the vaults as described in Configuring a Meridian Enterprise application server.

Note    If the Meridian Enterprise application server also acts as the Publisher computer (not recommended for production environments), some of the Meridian Enterprise libraries are overwritten during the Publisher installation. If the Publisher is subsequently uninstalled, those libraries will be unregistered and cause errors from the remaining EDM Server service that depends on them. In such cases, running the Meridian Enterprise setup program and selecting the Repair option re-registers the libraries and prevents the errors.

For information on configuring the Meridian Enterprise application server to be a source system, see Configuring a Publisher job.
